About this listen
Attorney Craig Malcault’s special problem is a blessing in disguise: Colleagues in the intelligence community at times do not trust the mental faculties of the rogue, former special operations agent. He could have been Craig’s favorite client. The international spy rings with their own agendas need his expertise. Ara Pacis,’ the failed state’s notorious, covert leadership is preparing for another power grab, but now the complete destruction of Ara Pacis by any means is the spy rings’ ultimate goal.
If the failed state survives, its secrets will test the sanity of mankind, and the agent has the key to that experiment.
Craig knows the agent wants a new life, but is he ready to take on the risk? The case will bring Craig one step closer to solving the mystery of Ara Pacis' sinister world where the extrajudicial killing of unarmed non-combatants can be the norm. As much the classified, covert leadership has promised Craig. Noblesse oblige when the law and morals don’t.

Twisty, tense, and unexpectedly introspective
I wasn’t expecting a legal-intelligence thriller to dig this deep into moral ambiguity, but this one really surprised me. The tension stays high, but what stuck with me most was how it explores the cost of secrecy and trust when the stakes are global. The world of Ara Pacis is eerie and unsettling in the best way—like you’re not sure who to root for, and that’s kind of the point. Great if you’re into layered stories that blur lines between duty and conscience.

Very exciting
I don’t usually go for books with government stuff or secret missions, but this one pulled me in fast. The story gets deep but still keeps that fast pace that makes you wanna keep listening. Craig’s caught in this insane mess with spies and shady people making huge moves, and it’s like every time you think it’s settled, something else hits. I liked that it made me question who the real “bad guys” were.

A Gripping Spy Thriller with Depth
This audio book kept me sitting on the edge of my chair until the end. Craig Malcault is a great protagonist, caught between his judicial skills and the dark side of espionage. The tangled web of intelligence, unseen agendas, and high-stakes games of cat and mouse yields a tight, unpredictable ride. The morally ambivalent themes, especially about secret operations and concealed leadership, lend an interesting dimension. If you enjoy espionage thrills with razor-sharp prose and brain-bending plot twists, this is well worth your time.

Journey Through Shadows
I was completely drawn into the world again, and this one took things even deeper. The emotional weight hit harder than I expected. The narration made every scene feel vivid and personal. I found myself pausing just to absorb certain moments. It’s one of those stories that lingers long after it ends.
