About this listen
Darkness looms over sunny Sidmouth, when an unsolved murder comes to the attention of late-night radio talk show host Edward Temmis.
Recently sacked from his beloved job after a devastating tragedy, Edward is cast adrift – until he meets Stevie, whose grandmother, a devoted listener, died in a suspicious fire last year. Well, nobody hurts his listeners and helping Stevie might just give him the purpose he needs.
Joined by his old fling, Kim, they discover Stevie's grandmother wasn't the only one of his listeners targeted – this is just the tip of the iceberg.
But who is pursuing his ageing audience and why? And can Edward, Stevie and Kim get to the bottom of this mystery before it’s too late?

no twist
I enjoyed the book but as I worked out the baddy quickly, I had ages before the rest of the characters caught up. Good concept and subplot but just frustrating that there was no twist

Easy and cosy solve it yourself
As another reviewer has commented, the who, how and why were obvious almost from the get go and it was a waiting game for the characters to catch up throughout. That said, the story was strong, the subplots and themes hung together well and the ending was satisfying if not predictable and formulaic.
I love Jeremy Vine on TV and radio…. But please stop letting “celebs” narrate their own books (Judge Rinder, Bob Mortimer etc). Know your craft, this isn’t it. Flat delivery, poor character differentiation and the odd accent attempt was woeful. Easy background to a sunny weekend and a fair first effort. Would give another a try…
