About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Max Wolfe is back! This is the long-awaited seventh instalment in the popular crime series from the number-one bestselling author of Man and Boy.
Emma Moon is out.
She’s served 16 years for a notorious armed robbery that left two men dead – and enriched many more.
But Emma Moon never talked. She kept the code. She never revealed who was with her on the day of the robbery. She never told who killed those two men.
And now she is free – and everything has gone. Her family. Her share of the money. And her faithless husband.
So Emma Moon is in a hurry. Because it is payback time. And after all those years inside, she has friends who will do anything for her.
As the bodies of the innocent and the guilty pile up, only one detective stands between a career criminal and her quest for revenge.
The same man who, as a fresh-faced policeman, arrested her all those years ago.
Max Wolfe is back.
Single parent to a teenage daughter, owner of an ageing dog, music lover, hopeless romantic - and a murder detective who has his own code of honour.

Another brilliant and gripping Max Wolfe book
I’ve loved every Max Wolfe book. Well written, clever and completely engrossing stories, every single one. I’m praying this isn’t the last in the series because if I have to say goodbye to Max, his daughter and their sweet cavalier, Stan then I’d like to see them head off into the sunset with hopeful hearts and the possibility of a happy ending.

Intriguing slow reveal
I was thoroughly excited about the release of this installment and am struggling to sum up my feelings on the book. I adore the characters and narration. It was a big like a slow reveal. The story was definitely intriguing and kept my interest but at times I did find myself getting a bit bored. I was so hungry for the juicy bits, which were short lived. It was a very cleverly constructed plot though and I didn't see the end coming. In fact it wasn't that predictable, which is what sustained my interest. This author is good at creating tension and playing on heart strings. I do think some aspects were over emphasised but...still enjoyed it. It was just a bit slow and lacked luster.

Good to see Max back again
This is up to scratch with the previous books in the series for sure. One of the better UK detectives out in the world at the moment and very, very likeable. (Don't leave it so long next time).

Fantastic story with twists and hooks all the way through
This is my first Tony Parsons experience and I know I'll be going back for more. A gripping storyline with intertwining plots and enough backstory to make you not worry that you've not read the previous books. I will be reading them now though.

Long winded
I was so excited to start listening to this book! Recently listened to the first 6.
I found it boring as it was simply too slow. Far too manny references to the past, and the tedious pop psychology about father and daughters was simply annoying.

Wonderful touching story
I have enjoyed all the books in this series but this was the best one yet. Great police procedural with a touching father daughter thread running through. The twist at the end was brilliant and the last chapter brought me to tears.

Theses books get better and better
Max is such a great character. My favourite so far and a very thoughtful ending. Thank you Tony for writing these. Hard hitting but sensitive :)
