Excellent knowledge to begin writing your story
An intense, in-depth read about writing the story about your life or a unique experience in your life. The author writes of four highly descriptive, deep, engaging stories of forging a new path forward to find purpose and a new identity. The book teaches about the variety of skills required to write – consistency, discipline, confrontation with self being a few. I enjoyed the thread throughout the book to develop rather than limit, and that the value of your story lies in its potential to transform, not necessarily how dramatic it is. The author states that it’s important to be authentic and that your story matters to others. There are many micro lessons, some include dealing with overwhelm, procrastination, the concept of time scarcity and impulsivity and how each impacts writing. And finally, the self-assessment quizzes were a nice finish to reflect on what areas of personal characteristics need attention and what to do about that.
