Just discovered but Really Enjoying This!
I read (listened to) the first book in this series, independently, before realising that there was a box set of the first 3! But buying the box set was still cheaper than buying the next 2 individually. I’m really glad that I did!
This is a very feasible, realistic set of stories. No amazing feats of heroism and superhuman stunts. The stories unfold exactly as you may expect them to in real time.
All of the characters are engaging and/or intriguing, the potential to get to know them better is available, so I hope that we do. The only part of the storyline that I don’t warm to is the fact that Elizabeth (who is almost flaky), is almost immediately introduced as “The Love Interest”, however I don’t like how he’s being “forced” into it… I’ve seen too many widows who have practically rushed into a second relationship without giving themselves space to recover. Rebound relationships simply don’t work and Adam doesn’t know why he’s thinking about Liz, when he’s still grieving for his wife… (but that’s my issue).
There are currently 14 books in this series, but only 3 of them are available as audiobooks, which is a shame. The narrator is good, the stories flow and this is a good investment. I’ll have to revert to the eBooks until such time as production catches up.
A really engrossing and entertaining read.
