Summary

The third novel in the beloved Regency-set world of Julia Quinn's charming, powerful Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shonda Rhimes for Netflix. Welcome to Benedict's story....

Sophie Beckett never dreamt she would sneak into Lady Bridgerton's famed masquerade ball - or that 'Prince Charming' would be waiting there for her! Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie had been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But that night, spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she felt like royalty. Yet she knows all enchantments must end.

But Sophie has reckoned without Benedict's determined heart: he has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, for he knows this is his only chance for a fairy tale love....

"Light, pacy and full of feisty heroines." (Guardian on the Bridgerton series)

"Julia Quinn's Bridgerton books take all of the classic tropes we know and love...and gives them a thoroughly modern twist. I can't focus on anything else." (Stylist)

"Quinn is a master of historical romance." (Entertainment Weekly)

My favourite Bridgerton!

Great story. Loved the narrator and the character development. Have re-listened multiple times. Can’t wait to see who they cast in the TV show!

Too American

obviously set in England about English people but too many Americanisms. Spoilt it for me.

An Ever After rip-off

Oh, that blatant rip-off of the Ever After Cinderella film was cringeworthy.

I really had to fight through that mess as it was awful, but once that parody was over with, it wasn't so bad.

Although, the whole insistence that you "fell in love" with someone who you met for a few minutes years prior was a bit hard to swallow for me.

Entertaining, but I do hope the Shondaland team completely do away with a lot of aspects of it when they come up with their interpretation of it...

Absolutely enjoyed the story.

Loved it and have listened to the story twice. Favourite is the pond scene. Throughout the narrator adds to the beauty of a well written book.

Like a fairytale.

Loved the whole series but this was like the traditional Cinderella fairytale. What’s not to like.
